And then I got this e-mail. From a guy named Peter.
Peter and Ashley met at a mutual friend's Labor Day party. After which Ashley swore to her friends that she would never, not EVER be interested in Peter. But after a couple months of running into each other and getting to know one another, Ashley fell hard for the loud city boy. Throughout the following year Peter spent his spare time traveling to Wisconsin to be with Ashley. In Peter's words they "went on many trips, laughed harder, loved longer, and appreciated each other more than anything else."
Last year over Labor Day weekend, 2 years after they met, Peter asked Ashley to marry him. Because Peter works near Chicago, Ashley agreed to move away from her small home town. Peter told me in his e-mail "Our story is not one of fine dining, red roses and champagne toasts; but rather one of beating the odds, conquering the distance, and showing each other a truly different side of the world."
That part. Right there. That's why we wanted to take pictures of Peter and Ashley. That's what we were looking for. Because we believe love isn't built on one big gesture of affection. It's built on the little things. Both people giving a little bit, making sacrifices, and still loving each other even though it's not always roses and champagne.
This one makes my heart so happy!!!
